We returned this Saturday, Dec 27th, to slumped gray snow and an icey driveway. The greendiamond tires on our Geo didn’t really notice the sheet of ice that is currently masquerading as our parking space. After leaving Minnesota during subzero temperatures and returning to temps that hover around zero, it feels just a little bit Spring-ish. It was nice to sleep in after a week of visiting my parents, sister and her husband, aunt, uncle, cousin, and my grandfather. Its just easier to sleep at home, with our own, instead of my sisters’ cat Viggo, howling throughout the night.
I just started playing Harvest Moon Rune Factory. It’s a really nice game, if you like odd farming sims. Seed and plant catalogs have just started arriving. I need to assess what seeds I still have from last year for our veggie garden. We had some kohlrabi from our garden tonight, it was pretty tasty considering the bulbs have been lurking in our refrigerator probably since late October. I found out yesterday that electric wood chippers do exist, which is exciting since the main thing we ever have lots of is branches, and one of the main things we lack oftentimes is enough mulch. Hmm perhaps I can get an electric woodchipper for my birthday, as long as I promise to never use it to re-enact scense from Fargo.
Isaac has to go back to work tomorrow, but I have the rest of the week of except for two days of work. I think I have an acupuncture appointment and we have some Spring cleaning, ebaying work to be done of a tableful of stuff that we aren’t using from the basement.
